Apartment Overlays Guide
Follow these steps to properly prepare and render apartment overlays for Your Next Home's interactive viewer.
Geometry Setup
Create and organize individual apartment geometries with proper naming conventions.
- Create a separate geometry for each apartment
- Use clear, descriptive names (e.g., "Apartment_01")
- Verify correct positioning and scaling
Important: Don't use spaces in names - numbers, dots, and letters are okay
Geometry Modification
Prepare geometries for overlay rendering with proper modifiers.
- Select all apartment overlay geometries
- Apply Edit Poly modifier to selections
- Make precise edge and surface adjustments if needed
Script Execution
Run the overlay rendering script with proper output configuration.
- Execute scripts/overlay_scr_01.ms
- Specify output folder location when prompted
- Alternative: Use scripts/simplified_for_simple_models.ms for basic buildings
Important: Ensure folder path ends with a backslash (\) - example: C:\Projects\YourNextHome\Overlays\
Rendering Setup
Configure the proper camera and render settings for optimal results.
- Select the view with 360-degree camera
- Access Render Settings
- Enable "Render only masks"
- Set Pass Limit to approximately 10
Important: Standard noise level settings do not work when rendering only masks
Best Practices
- Double-check geometry names before rendering
- Ensure consistent lighting and camera positioning
- Preview masks to confirm accurate coverage
- Maintain a systematic folder structure
Troubleshooting
- If masks appear incomplete, adjust the Edit Poly modifier
- Verify camera view and geometry alignment
- Check script compatibility with current 3ds Max version
